Edson Arantes do Nascimento, said Pele, born October 23, 1940 in Três Corações (Brazil, Minas Gerais), is a former Brazilian professional footballer who plays as a striker.

Considered the greatest player of all time, it is the only footballer to have been world champion three times (1958, 1962 and 1970 with the Brazilian). He has also won numerous titles across the two professional clubs he has known (Santos and New York Cosmos) whose Intercontinental Cup (1962 and 1963), the Copa Libertadores (1962 and 1963), U.S. Championship USA (1977) and eleven times the championship of São Paulo in the 1950s and 1960s.

Since his retirement, Pelé became ambassador to the UN and UNESCO for Education, Ecology and the Environment. He also continues to lend his image to various companies and has served as sports minister of Brazil between 1995 and 1998. However, it has not left the world of football because it will be the international ambassador of the 2014 World Cup to be held in Brazil.
